Just a quick note to once again thank you for sharing your expertise and creativity, and helping me maintain my sanity AND enthusiasm! I have NO idea how you manage to do all that you do, but I am incredibly thankful!
And I don’t know if I’ve entered today’s contest correctly, but my favorite activity was having my 2nd graders create their own candy cane “routine” to Trepak from “The Nutcracker.” I watched several different presentations by others online, and then played the selection several times for the kids, each time changing the focus just a bit. After they’d listened so many times, asking them to point out certain repeating themes, etc. helped them decide what to do. They LOVED this activity, and we will record it next week to send home to their parents (since obviously no concerts this year). They are so proud! AND…although in MY eyes, it’s far from perfect, they have certainly achieved the goals I set for this activity: interpreting the form with movement, working collaboratively as a large group, coming to consensus, understanding beat and phrase; feeling and expressing joy through music and movement. OK, I’ll stop rambling now!
